A Joshua Tree. Some of them are hundreds of years old, and belong to the Agave family. They branch only at the ends that flower, so trees that have not yet flowered are a single trunk with frizz on top.

These boulder piles are huge. Do you see the person in the photo?

A desert jackrabbit. The name is shortened from the original "jackass rabbit" but it all comes down to the ears.

Buddha Frog, desert, serenity.

This cactus was growing in a carefully cultivated desert garden just outside our window. This is the blossom the first night.

The blossom opened on our second evening at Sacred Sands.

Here is the bloom fully opened the next morning.
